John grew up in Walsall, Central England, and studied Art at Loughborough College
speciallising in Sculpture
After graduating in 1974, he was awarded the British Council Scholarship,
to work and study sculpture in Romania for a full year
This started friendships in Romania,
these friendships and the association with Romania have continued over the years
John then pursued his love of sculpture and worked on many famous churches
and old buildings, around England including even Westminister Abbey, and also
was involved in the restoration of old sculptures
Following this he then developed into doing sculpture commissions around
Central England mainly for Public Bodies
He has attended International working sculpture symposiums
and has become a well known sculptor
Following the fall of Communism, John returned to Romania to attend many
Sculpture Symposiums by invitation
He has developed a great love for Romanian culture and Romanian Artists
past and present, and has spent a lot of time there in recent years
During one of his visits, as he said
'He fell in love with the clear light and the beautiful countryside of Romania'
and started painting watercolors
John continued painting on subsequent visits, in the capital, in villages
and deep in the countryside. All providing inspiration for his work
On his last visit he was asked to exhibit his watercolors
and so approx 30 of his paintings have been retained in Romania
to set up an exhibition for his next visit there
The watercolors you see are only a part of John's painting over the last few years,
the remainder being still in Romania
