| These woodcuts are made by drawing a design on a wood block, and then cutting
away the background with a knife and gouges. The finished block is then inked with a roller and printed in a hand press by the artist For color prints such as these above, a separate block is carved for each color These are then printed in sequence one color over another until the image is complete and acceptable to the artist To overlay two colors to provide a third, a transparent medium is added to the ink and this technique is also used by the artist ** contact artist ** I try to combine the decorative and topographical aspects of landscape to produce a strong image....Peter Shread |
